1. (noun) A curb is the stone or concrete edge of the sidewalk beside the road.

2. When curb is a verb, it means to restrain or hold back, like when you curb your impulse to laugh while watching a badly acted play. Here's another example: “she promised she would curb her temper”.

Curbing

To dispose of unwanted items by leaving them by the curb. E.x.: “I saw Larry curbing a few boxes of books yesterday. I went to check it out and I found this 1st edition of The Hobbit. I think it is worth some money!”.

Sit On The Curb

If the cops make someone sit on the curb, it's because they are suspicious of their story or the circumstances, and they want those people in a position where they can keep an eye on them.

Step Off The Curb

To die. Alludes to stepping out in front of a vehicle that causes one’s death. E.x.: “Ralph almost stepped off the curb during his surgical operation”.

Shot To The Curb

Be without money or a place to live; living in the gutter; down and out. Alluding to being on the streets. Ex.: “I’m totally out of bills, man. Shot to the curb”.
